Pinewood Derby

 

Its that time of year again!

 

The Pinewood Derby will be this Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  This night can be long so we will provide pizza for the families to eat during the race.  We are asking that each family bring a side to share.  We will probably have about 50 people attending.  I have made a guess on how many boys are in each den.  Use that number to decide how much you should bring.

 

Webelos Den - Fruit (5 boys)

 

Bear Den - Veggie (3 boys)

 

Wolf Den - Dessert (6 boys)

 

You should be able to find an official set of rules in your Pinewood Derby Box.

 

• You must build a new car each year.  Cars that have been used previous years are not allowed to race.  No Repeats or Repaints.  Cars that were purchased completed may not be used. 
• Width - Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches.
• Length - Not to exceed 7 inches.
• Weight - Not to exceed 5.0 ounces.
• Use only official Scout Grand Prix Wheels
• No propellants of any kind, ie. magnets, springs, propellars
• Please have your car complete before the start of the pinewood derby.

* We will have the track roped off.  Please help us by keeping siblings and boys outside of the rope.  *Once the car is checked in to race the boys are not allowed to put the car on the track. 

*  We will need a few adult volunteers to help us run the races.  We will need someone to help start the race, call the race results, pick up the cars at the end of the track, weigh in and check in station.
